It's A New Dawn, It's A New Day

I'm probably going to regret this. All my young life I thought I had it figured out -all of it. My instincts were good and my skin was thick enough to protect me, but it came at a cost. I wasn't comfortable in it, and I wasn't comfortable calling myself a feminist. Finally, about two years ago, I decided to look into feminism with an open mind and the whole world has been different ever since. I'm learning about my own delusions, and in turn I'm beginning to understand why so many people aren't comfortable with the "F" word.

Many people consider themselves to be pretty open minded, even adaptable toward things they didn't previously understand. That's the struggle we're faced with as feminists in the fourth wave; people have already decided that they know what feminism is and as soon as they hear the word they stop listening. This is no reason to stop trying to reach them. I'm ready to talk about the things I'm finding out about myself, other women, and the society that refuses to give us a fair shake at a place in the greater conversation. Let's hash it out together.
